Desi Ghee made in Australia
We come from a generation which grew up on Desi Ghee. We had it in everything I know- onchapatis and parathas, in our vegetables, dals, meat curries, almost everything.
Then come a time when the Indian market changed its course and we had dozens of brands of refined vegetable oil on the shops shelves. For nearly a generation ghee took a back seat and was almost hard to find it in the shops. Coupled with some misguided bad press, people also started thinking maybe gheewasn’t such a good thing after all.

We started enjoying ghee again. But things change for us yet again when we left India and realised that by leaving the country we’re also going to have to leave our favourite ghee back home.
When we moved to Australia in early 2000s, therewere just a few brands of Indian ghee but none could match the taste of home-made ghee that we yearned for.
